On November 30, 2019, the launch ceremony and appointment event for the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management MBA Entrepreneurship Mentor Program was held in Beijing. Mr. Alan Song, Founding Partner and Chairman of Harvest Capital, was officially appointed as an MBA Entrepreneurship Mentor at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management. In his new role, he exchanged insights and experiences with MBA students.

Launched in 1991, the Tsinghua MBA program was among the first MBA programs approved by China’s Ministry of Education. It has since grown into one of the most influential and prestigious MBA programs in the country. A distinctive feature of the Tsinghua MBA is its practice of appointing successful entrepreneurs from society as project mentors.

This appointment represents another meaningful way for Mr. Alan Song, as an outstanding entrepreneurial alumnus, to give back to Tsinghua University, following previous contributions through donations and teaching engagements. After completing his doctoral and EMBA studies at Tsinghua, Alan Song has maintained close ties with his alma mater, consistently supporting its development with deep enthusiasm and dedication.

Moreover, a strong youth builds a strong China—the nation’s important mission is carried forward by young entrepreneurs. The students selected into Tsinghua’s MBA program through rigorous evaluation represent the future pillars of China’s business landscape. As a leader and pioneer, Alan Song believes that nurturing and supporting young talent is a key responsibility of today’s entrepreneurs. Engaging with young MBA students is both a process of mentoring and one of mutual learning.

The sharing and passing on and preserving of knowledge and experience helps young entrepreneurs grow continuously, while also enabling mentors to cultivate sounder business awareness and social responsibility among them. Through dialogue and guidance, mentors can also identify and foster true talent for enterprises and society.

The business world is both demanding and inspiring. Behind the intense competition of the marketplace lies a broader vision of commercial ethics and civilization. We believe this generation of young people will undoubtedly give rise to a new wave of Chinese entrepreneurs and nurture an entrepreneurial spirit that is rooted in China yet resonates across the world.

After being appointed as an MBA mentor, Alan Song looks forward to exploring and building China’s new commercial civilization alongside this generation of young people, particularly through the lens of business ethics and civilized enterprise-building.

As Tsinghua’s motto to its students states: “Self‑cultivation for serving society; virtue for shouldering responsibility.”Learning from each other, growing together, and jointly exploring the path toward a principled commercial civilization will become the shared honor and vision of mentors and young entrepreneurs alike.
